What do Bat­man, Su­per­man, Nel­son Man­dela and Rosa Parks all have in com­mon? The an­swer is, they all are he­roes to many but come next Fri­day a new cast of he­roes will be on the scene as IS­LAND­peo­ple Mas launch­es their pre­sen­ta­tion for Car­ni­val 2012 He­roes. West­opia, Ch­aguara­mas, has been giv­en as the lo­ca­tion of the se­cret lair from which 13 he­roes will emerge at mid­night to the de­light of thou­sands of cu­ri­ous on­look­ers and mas en­thu­si­asts. This much an­tic­i­pat­ed event will see IS­LAND­peo­ple Mas (IPM) pro­duce yet an­oth­er launch that is full of the cre­ativ­i­ty, vi­bran­cy and trade­mark fun for which they are wide­ly known. Their past launch events have fea­tured a fair share of unique ideas be­ing ex­e­cut­ed with great ex­cite­ment.

In 2008, their pre­sen­ta­tion Heav­en on Earth was launched with the mod­els de­scend­ing from the skies in spe­cial­ly cre­at­ed bas­kets hoist­ed by cranes; and in 2010, aliens and glow in the dark body suits cre­at­ed an in­ter­est­ing com­bi­na­tion at launch of Shades of the Uni­verse. "We al­ways strive to do things dif­fer­ent­ly and re­al­ly cre­ate a show that will im­press peo­ple with our cre­ativ­i­ty," com­ment­ed band­leader Dane Lewis. "Our themes are used to high­light is­sues that we see im­por­tant in the world and we be­lieve that based on all that's hap­pen­ing these days, the world needs he­roes. A hero doesn't have to be as grand as you may think. It can be the guy teach­ing foot­ball to kids in the com­mu­ni­ty; as this could po­ten­tial­ly keep them away from a life of crime."

With the tagline "it's in all of us" IS­LAND­peo­ple Mas in­tends to use their pre­sen­ta­tion to ig­nite the in­ner hero that lives in their mas­quer­aders. "We want peo­ple to come out and have fun and be en­ter­tained but we al­so want them to leave with a re­newed sense of re­spon­si­bil­i­ty to the world," added Lewis. Lim­it­ed ad­vance tick­ets are now avail­able at the IS­LAND­peo­ple Mas Camp, cor­ner O'Con­nor and War­ren Streets in Wood­brook; IF House, cor­ner Tra­garete Road and Mur­ray Street, and from com­mit­tee mem­bers.
