Gerard Yorke, left, and Frederick Bowen, right, executive members of Yorke Inc, and FB Promotions present the bursary cheque to Chantel Pile, UWI Campus Alumni T&T Chapter Representative and Mark Regis, President of UWIAA. The group has pledged additional bursaries for 2012 to 2014 to the UWI Alumni Association based on their upcoming fund-raising events during that period.

On February 13, Yorke Inc, FB Promotions and Kreative Concepts hosted their Annual All-Inclusive Fund-raising Carnival Fete at UWI Senior Common Room, St Augustine featuring Dil-e-Nadan, Kes the Band and Destra and her Band with several guest artistes, well supported by Siparia Rhythm Section. The group has come together over the years to promote high quality cultural events. Based on the success of these events, they have been able to make substantial charitable donations over the past few years to a number of needy organisations.  For the years 2009-2011, the promoters have pledged and paid bursaries to the UWI Alumni Association (UWIAA) to aid financially distressed students attending the University of the West Indies based on pre-determined criteria.

Students become eligible for the award based on the following criteria:

• On successful completion of his/her courses, achieving an overall minimum Grade B average.

• Must make a significant contribution to student life, including service on the Students Guild and especially.

• Must provide evidence of financial need.
