Nikki Crosby is set to send audiences wild when she portrays the prime minister in the upcoming production titled, The Gossip Girls and the PM, opening this weekend, Sunday, at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), Port-of-Spain. Produced by Randy Glasgow Productions (RGP), the show will continue at NAPA on August 25 and 26 before moving on to several other locations in San Fernando, Tunapuna, Arima and Tobago. The sketch comedy production, that will also feature several top local stand-up comedians, will see Crosby and the other cast members, including Clevas Mitchell, Wendell Etienne, Sheldon Narine, Kenneth Supersad, Dese Simon and Knuts Landing, making light of the escapades of the nation's politicians and exploring through comedy. Issues, such as where the police officers went for their day of rest and reflection will be highlighted, as well as the various moonlighting jobs of all the members of parliament.
Crosby will portray a prime minister trying to navigate her way through one comical quagmire of controversy after another, while trying to lead her cabinet of colourful characters. Also performing in Gossip Girls and the PM is Cyclops, who plays the newly installed works minister trying to climb up the political ladder, while Tommy Joseph portrays hip-hop diva Nicki Minaj who finally admits to using foul language at the Localize It concert.The Gossip Girls includes presentations by the Crazy Contagious Crew, Choonkie Ting, Pee Wee and the Saint. On August 27 the show moves to the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, then to Naparima Bowl, San Fernando on August 28, and the Arima Velodrome on August 30. The people of Tobago will have the opportunity to see the production on September 3.
