Philmore wows crowds at US Festivals

Concert goers in the United States were treated to a unique and special performance by two of Trinidad’s greatest musicians. Ken Philmore (Professor) played an amazing set of music with guitarist Steven Springer and Tropicooljazz at the recent Ypsilanti Heritage Festival in Michigan. Springer, has recorded dozens of albums with some of the biggest names in Caribbean music and jazz. Philmore is widely regarded as one of the top steel-drum soloists in the world. 

Also playing in Tropicooljazz were Norris George, another well-known steel drum player from Trinidad, who originally played with Esso Tripoli Steel Band, as well as Dector Scott and Fred Reif on percussion. The crowd loved every moment of the concert.  “The music was so sweet, I thought I had gone to paradise,” said one of the people in attendance. “I have bever heard more beautiful music in my entire life.” After the concert in Ypsilanti, the two musicians hurried to Detroit to play at another festival on Belle Isle. Philmore is billed as a headline act at the first ever T&T-style Carnival to be held in South Africa, in December. Aside from participation by some top local mas artisans and designers, also expected to be on the tour is Sagicor Exodus, with arranger Pelham Goddard and manager Ainsworth Mohammed.
