Patrons of the T&T film festival have the opportunity to aid in relief efforts in response to the recent ferry disaster in Zanzibar, East Africa. According to information from the T&TFF, ticket proceeds from the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) film screenings during the festival in Trinidad will go to Saidia Zanzibar, a relief organisation set up to provide relief and support for victims of the disaster and their families. On September 10 a ferry turned over in the waters of Zanzibar. Of the 800 people on board, approximately 200 lost their lives.

Screenings from the ZIFF will take place at the little Carib Theatre on September 29. Patrons who wish to make contributions can take advantage of a donation box that will be placed in the foyer of the Little Carib Theatre during the festival’s run there from September 25 to October 1. A Tobago collection will also be taken up at the Calder Hall Community Centre on October 1. All proceeds collected will be presented to ZIFF on behalf of Saidia Zanzibar.

•People wishing to make a donation can contact the TTFF at 621-0709.
