It's countdown time to Miami Carnival 2011 but Trinbagonians got a jump start last weekend as Trinidad and Tobago's Republic Day was celebrated at Central Broward Park in Miami. Migrant Trini got an authentic taste of home as JMC 3Veni, featuring lead vocalist KI and his father and band leader Veerendra Persad rocked the venue with the spicy sounds of their homeland.
Also adding to the excitement and fun were popular calypsonian Crazy, Champa Chameli Dance Company, Petrotrin Tassa group, the Holistic dancers and members of the Florida band Dimensionz, and US-based Narat Shakti Multicultural Dancers. The party was a bargain in that organisers charged patrons a mere US$1.50 to enter.
