If one of the many memorable and well-loved original Choo Kong characters, Frank Lee, were to put pen to paper, he would say that "frankly speaking" the year that has thus far been 2011, has been a tough one for the entire theatre community for many reasons. He would also "frankly" say that in a time where it is every man for himself, in a time when the confiscation of a nation's basic rights, whether justified or unjustified, remains an enigma. And in a time where the commercial theatre industry struggles to keep its head above water just as so many other industries, Raymond Choo Kong Productions remains rooted as true believers in the fantastic power of the art form, and bravely and bold-facedly continue on the innovative and creative journey. Theatre is alive and well!
That said, the Choo Kong caravan is finally rolling into Queen's Hall, bringing no less than a fantastic new piece, Curfew Party for this weekend-October 7 to 9 -for 3 shows only. All proceeds of the night of the October 7 will go toward medical expenses for Justine Madeira. As usual, Raymond Choo Kong Productions continues to reintroduce new fresh talented actors. You will never believe what happens when people are trapped behind closed doors between 11 pm and 4 am. State of emergency, plus alcohol, plus no way out equals state of pandemonium. It's the saga of tops-turvy relationships, and a lockdown lime of this scandalous magnitude may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
See the talented sexy cast of Mark Nottingham, Serran Clarke, Conrad Parris, Abeo Jackson, Rachel Bascombe, Carnella Barkley and of course the Chinee man himself. Together, they will have you on the edges of your seats, rolling in the aisles and loudly rooting for the underdog. For tickets and more information, check out the Queen's Hall Box Office, 624-1284 ext 1, which is open from 10 am to 6pm daily. Patrons can also call: 320-8215, 384-8663.
