Thirteen years in any business is a long time, and those years tend to go by extremely quickly if you're having fun doing it. So is the case with Leo Cabellero, better known as DJ Dangerous Robin. After spending one year freelancing, he was quickly picked up by radio station 102.1FM. Before spending his last five years at 94.1FM, Cabellero made a few career stops at The Vibe 105FM and 98.9FM. He quickly admitted that it was his last five years on 94.1FM that really gave him the push that he needed to become a household name in T&T. The awesome combination of Dangerous Robin, Kevin Baker and Sunny Bling could have been heard every evening on the Rush Hour Drive with their innovative style of entertaining those facing the afternoon traffic.
And although Cabellero has left the safety net of the radio station, he and Baker are inseparable as they continue to have a tremendous following on the weekends outside of the radio hours. Undoubtedly the two would have had quite a few memorable moments. "The Rhianna and John Legend concert brings back my best time working with Robin. We flattened the place and dust out the concert when we played," recalled Baker. Last Sunday, Robin who now has his own promotional company called Dangerous Robin Entertainment, held his first party on entitled Jiggle It.
The event was held at club Aquarius, which could easily be the best keep secret when it comes to club ambiance in Tunapuna. A large blue illuminated aquarium is the first thing you see upon entering the antique looking doors that tower over the clubs entrance way. While there is an indoor section, the action took place around the pool area. Several water fountains lined the circumference of the pool and shot into the water, creating opportunities for creative fun for those who did not want to get completely wet.
Beautiful women in sizzling bikinis were out in abundance, and the necks of the men were in constant rotation.
Most of Cabellero's DJ colleagues came out to support the venture, and off course to play music. Jahmoun Mendoza, Kevin Baker, Howie Tee, Linx, Shotta, Prince and 2nd To None, were among those delivered music combinations that left no room for error. They made it easy for local reggae artiste, Marlon Asher, who has regained new life with his recent release, Cowboy, to please patrons. As he sang snippets of his hits from over the years, the already excited crowd shifted into another gear of enjoyment. It was one of those seven hour events that went by too quickly because of the fun.The party ended at 10 pm with many wising that it could have gone on for a few more hours.
