Say what you want about the Twi­light saga, the idea be­hind the mushy love sto­ry is ac­tu­al­ly quite ap­peal­ing. Be­sides scream­ing, hor­mon­al, teenaged girls, there is a rea­son for the world-wide Twi­light fever. But I sup­pose it de­pends on the au­di­ence.There are more rea­sons to dis­like the Twi­light se­ries than to like it-this is clear. Most guys think that it is "gay" or stu­pid, most fe­males think that it is a dreamy ro­mance, and most fan­ta­sy and fic­tion lovers (whether male or fe­male) will dis­card it as a mock­ery.

Per­son­al­ly, I am nei­ther a su­per fic­tion fa­nat­ic, nor a hater of ro­mance. I, be­ing male, ac­tu­al­ly find the con­cept be­hind Twi­light to be quite in­ter­est­ing.I have read many nov­els on vam­pires and were­wolves and even though Twi­light's in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the age-old folk-lores are dif­fer­ent, they're just that-in­ter­pre­ta­tions.The lore, fan­ta­sy and diplo­ma­cy that is tied up in the twist­ing plot of the films is very in­trigu­ing.

How­ev­er, while the ac­tors and ac­tress­es por­tray their roles fair­ly well, it made me feel like I was watch­ing a soap-opera. Not just a soap-opera, but an in­cred­i­bly over-ex­ag­ger­at­ed and emo­tion­al soap-opera.Guys, if you like mil­i­tary films, you should be able to en­joy Twi­light. There is a truce be­tween the were­wolves and vam­pires. Though they hate each oth­er, there is a bal­ance de­spite the fact that Bel­la Swan (Kris­ten Stew­art) com­plete­ly com­pro­mis­es this bal­ance.

Both sides are still will­ing to work to­geth­er against their in­di­vid­ual races, in the name of their love for her.This in it­self, as a guy, makes me sick. But once you get past all the ex­ag­ger­at­ed act­ing and over­l­ly dra­mat­ic love scenes, the sto­ry is ac­tu­al­ly fair­ly in­ter­est­ing. This last film, as part of a se­ries, I found to be dif­fer­ent-the best ad­jec­tive I can use, since the theme changes from teenaged love af­fairs to adult-hood and se­ri­ous de­ci­sions (like abor­tion for ex­am­ple).

It's ei­ther you like it or you don't. If you choose to see it, be open-mind­ed and try to en­joy it. Or you can al­so dis­re­gard it as lame and stu­pid.I would rate the en­tire saga six and a half, out of ten. Break­ing Dawn, how­ev­er, I rate five out of ten.
