Say what you want about the Twilight saga, the idea behind the mushy love story is actually quite appealing. Besides screaming, hormonal, teenaged girls, there is a reason for the world-wide Twilight fever. But I suppose it depends on the audience. There are more reasons to dislike the Twilight series than to like it-this is clear. Most guys think that it is "gay" or stupid, most females think that it is a dreamy romance, and most fantasy and fiction lovers (whether male or female) will discard it as a mockery.
Personally, I am neither a super fiction fanatic, nor a hater of romance. I, being male, actually find the concept behind Twilight to be quite interesting.I have read many novels on vampires and werewolves and even though Twilight's interpretation of the age-old folk-lores are different, they're just that-interpretations.The lore, fantasy and diplomacy that is tied up in the twisting plot of the films is very intriguing.
However, while the actors and actresses portray their roles fairly well, it made me feel like I was watching a soap-opera. Not just a soap-opera, but an incredibly over-exaggerated and emotional soap-opera.Guys, if you like military films, you should be able to enjoy Twilight. There is a truce between the werewolves and vampires. Though they hate each other, there is a balance despite the fact that Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) completely compromises this balance.
Both sides are still willing to work together against their individual races, in the name of their love for her. This in itself, as a guy, makes me sick. But once you get past all the exaggerated acting and overlly dramatic love scenes, the story is actually fairly interesting. This last film, as part of a series, I found to be different-the best adjective I can use, since the theme changes from teenaged love affairs to adult-hood and serious decisions (like abortion for example).
It's either you like it or you don't. If you choose to see it, be open-minded and try to enjoy it. Or you can also disregard it as lame and stupid.I would rate the entire saga six and a half, out of ten. Breaking Dawn, however, I rate five out of ten.
