Club Maracas has opened its doors to party goers looking for excitement and first class entertainment in south Trinidad.Occupying the building on South Trunk Road, La Romaine which used to house the now defunct Sting NightClub, Club Maracas is expected to become the "show capital" of the south, according to owner Mohan Jaikaran as he officially opened the club on Thursday night.Among the international celebrities that are expected to grace the stage of Club Maracas are Chris Brown, Akon and Jay Sean. The club is affiliated with Club Maracas in Queens, New York.Trevor Rupnarain, Jaikaran's partner, is hopeful that the La Romaine club will become as successful as the club in New York.
Inviting everyone to come to Club Maracas and have fun, Jaikaran, also owner of WinTV, said, "These days Maracas have too much landslides, come here and we will entertain you."Jaikaran, however, made it absolutely clear that drugs in his club will not be tolerated and anyone caught with drugs will be banned for life. He said his daughters Anita Jaikaran and Raquel Shivdat will be the ones running the operations at the club.After the ribbon cutting, guests were entertained to Chutney star Drupatee and two Indian dance segments.Among the guests were Chaguanas Mayor Orlando Nagessar, Dr Stephen Ramroop of the Office of Disaster and Preparedness Management and attorney Kevin Ratiram.
