If you see me hap­py like posey is be­cause I have just got­ten my hands of the long-await­ed CDs Trib­ute To Spar­row by Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, and one from the most hide-your-tal­ent pan­nist on the plan­et Car­lyle "Cat" Oliv­er called Mu­sic From The High­way of Life.

Cat has been play­ing the dou­ble sec­onds long be­fore Boogsie climbed on top a box to play as a child, and is re­port­ed to be as old as Christo­pher Colum­bus. Leg­end has it that Car­lyle Oliv­er greet­ed Colum­bus when he land­ed at Moru­ga.

Both men have done jus­tice to pan mu­sic.The boogey man has tak­en the mu­sic to a next lev­el on the Per­cus­sive Har­mon­ic In­stru­ment (PHI) pan. Holy Moses! The Trib­ute To Spar­row CD sweet­er than hon­ey.What I like about this CD is that each song is played in a dif­fer­ent mood. I don't have a favourite, so please don't ask me.

There are Salt­fish, Pan­man, Dan Is The Man, Roy­al Jail, Rose, Mem­o­ries, Drunk And Dis­or­der­ly, Con­go Man, Ed­u­ca­tion, Jane and Sa Sa Yea. All this mu­sic is ded­i­cat­ed to Boogsie's men­tor, the late Pat Bish­op. I am sure Pat is danc­ing wher­ev­er she is.

Now the list of cred­its for this CD will fill two news­pa­pers. Now Mr Muzik can­not call every­one's name, I will fin­ish on Christ­mas Day. How­ev­er, one name that stands out is David Chow, the mu­si­cal en­gi­neer.Look, run, walk fast, use a vine like Tarzan, bungie jump, use an air bal­loon or maxi taxi; just get this CD, it's beau­ti­ful.
