The Music Makers School, which hails from Success Village, Laventille, under the directorship of Merle Albino-de Coteau, held its Annual Achievement Day Celebration at the end of last year, at City Hall Auditorium, Knox Street, Port-of-Spain. The national anthem was sung by the school's choir, with musical accompaniment on pan by Aneysha de Coteau. Billed as a musical extravaganza, special tribute was paid to Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars manager Beresford Hunte and arranger Leon Edwards (Smooth). Nervin Saunders (Teach), former arranger of CAL Invaders, made the presentation to Hunte, while Pamberi Steel Orchestra manager, Nestor Sullivan, made the presentation to Edwards on behalf of the Music Makers' School.
The audience was treated to beautiful pan performances by Japanese couple Koji and Yuko Fujimura Reverend Clifford Rawlins and the indefatigable Christopher Herbert (Tambu) also performed. The students showcased their talent in pan, piano, recorder, song and dance. The dance was choreographed by Gregoire Breedy, and parang was taught by George Carter. Assisting with the rehearsals and accompaniment this year were members of Los Tuscositos, while the music was arranged and conducted by James Cyrus and Lloyd Jack, Immanuel Lashley, Simeon Superville, Charles Small Maynard, and Mitchum Barcelo. The event was hosted by Vanessa Herbert-Fortune.
