Pee Wee is what he’s known as in the world of comedy, but on an ordinary day he’s simply Clyde Alexander, a humble resident of Penco Street, Montrose, Chaguanas. For the past 20 years, the 57-year-old has been injecting humour into the souls of those who need it and when Carnival 2012 comes to an end, Pee Wee will bring his brand of comedy to stages at comedy events hosted by Randy Glasgow Productions.

Keeping it clean
Pee Wee told the T&T Guardian that he got started in comedy 20 years ago when he auditioned on Scouting for Talent with Holly Betaudier. He said he made several appearances on the entertainment platform, placing second and third on two occasions. Presently, he is a part of Randy Glasgow’s team. “I’ve been with Randy Glasgow Productions for about four years,” he revealed, adding that his style of comedy stems from the tutorship of Paul Keens Douglas. “Through Paul Keens Douglas I learnt that when you are composing you have to compose for both children and adults. I usually compose clean material,” he said.

Ian Malleyne?
Explaining that his ideas are all born from simple, everyday interactions with people, Pee Wee said that his 2012 presentation is entitled, It Is Alleged—Doh Hut Yuh Head. “I’m impersonating Ian Alleyne but in this skit, my name is Ian Malleyne,” he said, adding that he is a big fan of the Crime Watch host, never missing the chance to check him out on television daily. A father of two, Pee Wee said he looked to his sons for a lot of his comedic material. “They are not involved in comedy. One is 23 and the other is 30, and through them, I prepare and compose my jokes because they are always telling me something in a comical way.” Pee Wee said his skit would include some comic relief on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s trip to India and he would be dressing and acting like Ian Alleyne. “I made a fish that is a big fish and I have a watch that is real big. It’s almost like a clock and if anybody wants to know what kind of watch that is, it is crime watch,” he revealed.

Taking comedy across the seas
Assuring that the Randy Glasgow comic relief shows would be comedy with a difference, the Chaguanas resident highlighted that it would be an alternative comedy showcase where various types of comedic styles would be seen. Following his run with Randy Glasgow Productions, Pee Wee said he would be heading up the islands. “I work with the Caribbean Entertainers Committee based in Barbados and in July, I will be heading to Barbados Cropover, St Vincent’s Carnival and then Grenada. “This performance cannot be missed,” he said of the Randy Glasgow Productions comedy event.
