The Dr Geraldine Connor Memorial Committee is seeking all past members of the Carnival Messiah production to join a celebration of the life Dr Geraldine Connor in a musical tribute entitled Geri's Journey. Connor, an ethnomusicologist and performer, died in September 2011 at Harrogate Hospital in England. The event will take place at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 30 Abercromby Street, Port-of-Spain, on May 25, starting at 6 pm.
A release from the committe listed the artistes scheduled to perform as Mavis John, Ataklan, Raymond Edwards, Anne Fridal, Marvin Smith, The Carnival Messiah Members, the Laventille Drummers, tassa drummers and many more. The audience will be treated to excerpts from Carnival Messiah, Connor's most celebrated work. The event will be free to the public, although an offering will be collected. A benefit party titled Jazz It For Geri will follow on May 27 at Le Cafe Opera, 13 Cipriani Boulevard, Port-of-Spain, starting from 5 pm.
