Chefs all in a row at the Tranquillity Government Secondary School’s Parent Teachers Association fourth Annual Cookout competition, last Saturday.

A number of teams came out in support of the Tranquillity Government Secondary School’s Parent Teachers Association fourth annual cookout competition last Saturday, among them the Cipriani Labour College CIPS Cooks, Sweethand, Hungry Dogs, Paramin Partnership, Chopped Chefs from Fatima College and St Mary’s College. The event took place at the school, at Victoria Avenue, Port-of-Spain. Some of the tasty entries were Pork in Apple Sauce, Pepper Ribs prepared by CIC’s Roderick Ward, Oh My Cod seafood done by CIC’s Roberto Ramirez, and the original CIC white meat prepared by chef Nestor Lambert. In the end CIPS Chefs and Chopped Chefs tied for first place and walked away with bragging rights. Paramin Partnership came in second, while third position was the Port-of-Spain and environs PTA.

Public relations officer for the PTA Stephen Mathison said the initiative was aimed at bringing together all stakeholders involved in education to raise funds to assist in the development of the school. Highlighting that the school faces many problems, Mathison said the PTA has always tried to get corporate assistance through its initiatives, without much success. He said the school faced problems ranging from teacher absenteeism to infrastructural problems like leaking toilets and hot classrooms. The PTA, he said, had been working toward getting these issues addressed.
