David Richards is well-known as a talented drummer on the local scene. On Saturday night, he will also expose a side of him that is rarely seen, his bass playing, at a concert, entitled Bass’d on Drums. The show will take place at the Little Carib Theatre and will feature a slew of talented guest performers in a unique mix of local music, popular classics and his own compositions. For the last eight years, Richards has shared the stage with musical greats like Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, Theron Shaw, Elan Parle, Arturo Tappin, Chevelle Franklin, The Clifford Charles Quartet, Raf Robertson and Sherwin Gardner, to name a few. He has represented T&T at various jazz and music festivals, both regionally and internationally. Saturday’s concert is in aid of Richards’ furthering his studies in music. He has already pursued his passion at the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (Costaatt), where he earned his Associate Degree in Performing Arts: Music.

Bass’d on Drums will explore Richards’ musical voyage and explore the mind of the young arranger through his interpretations of familiar songs as well as his own work. This cast includes Theron Shaw, Dean Williams, Mikhail Salcedo, Modupe Onilu, Rodney Alexander, Alpha Simpson, Shaquille Noel, Andre Jack, Keron Robinson, James Fenton, Charles Ryan, Odelle Daniel, Kazio Paponette, Joseph Melville, Elena Rawlins, Sade Sealey, Stephen John and Jesse Ryan.
Bass’d on Drums takes place at the Little Carib Theatre at 7pm. Admission costs $150.
