Ten litle girls will show­case their tal­ent and style to­day as GNL hosts the Pret­ty Lit­tle Queens Pageant, at the Fyz­abad Com­mu­ni­ty Com­plex. Chil­dren from as young as three years old will take part in the com­pe­ti­tion. The pageant which will be di­vid­ed in­to two age groups- three to six and sev­en to 12.

The show is be­ing or­gan­ised by friends Gizel Matthew, Ned­da Stephens and Eliz­a­beth Lon­don (GNL) Stephens be­lieves that such an ex­pe­ri­ence for the girls would help boost their self con­fi­dence and would al­so al­low them to ex­plore hob­bies in mod­el­ling and the arts.

"There are no losers at all in this pageant. All will walk away on with a sense of ac­com­plish­ment and an ex­pe­ri­ence that they can take in­to the fu­ture," Stephens said in an in­ter­view. She said the girls will be dis­play­ing what they learnt over the past month in cat­e­gories such as ca­su­al wear, evening gown and tal­ent com­pe­ti­tion.

And to en­sure that no one leaves emp­ty-hand­ed, there will be spe­cial prizes for each del­e­gate. The idea of host­ing the pageant in the labour cap­i­tal of the coun­try was con­cep­tu­alised by the three friends who pos­sess a deep pas­sion for fash­ion. Both Stephens and Matthew are hair­styl­ists while Lon­don is a fash­ion bou­tique pro­pri­etress.

Ac­cord­ing to Stephens, in past years, the com­mu­ni­ty an­tic­i­pat­ed the Miss Pret­ty Con­test but this no longer ex­ists. "With this show, they can show how brave young peo­ple can be, as they dis­play their tal­ents and qual­i­ties. They can build a pas­sion from this and have an ed­u­ca­tion­al ex­pe­ri­ence. That is what we are all about, want­i­ng bet­ter for chil­dren," she said.
