Officials of Fashion Week T&T (FWTT) are in talks with the management of T&T-born singer and songwriter Nicki Minaj, for a possible collaboration at this year’s staging of the event, scheduled for October. At a dinner meeting held at Osteria Emiliana Restaurant, Longden Street, Port-of-Spain, last Sunday, with the top female entertainer’s publicist, Karen Hunter, FWTT principals indicated their interest in Minaj. The 2012 edition will form part of this country’s 50th anniversary of Independence.

According to industry insiders, this instalment promises to be spectacular. Among those who attended the dinner meeting were Anthony Rahael, chairman FWTT; celebrated Caribbean fashion designer Claudia Pegus; media executive Shida Bolai; protocol professional Joanne Brooks; film producer Stephen Doobal, and former diplomat Terri Walker. Talking points included the FWTT launch date and the theme of the event. At the end of the evening, the board declared a commitment to ensure that FWTT continues to develop the fashion industry locally with a focus on making it internationally marketable.
