Mu­sic band Red, formed on­ly three months ago, held its launch on Au­gust 4, on­board the South­ern El­e­gance. Tri­cia Hamil­ton, leader of the band said, "Peo­ple came ex­pect­ing what they are ac­cus­tomed to hear­ing, what we gave them blew their minds. They were shocked we catered to every­one and had a great mix of mu­sic." She said the band was not sur­prised by the re­ac­tion of the crowd be­cause its mem­bers knew their po­ten­tial. "We are dy­nam­ic and dif­fer­ent not just an­oth­er lo­cal band."

Red con­sists of a range of mu­si­cians, among them vo­cal­ist Pre­ston An­dries, Joe Sookdeo and Hamil­ton, drum­mer Ian Joseph, sax­o­phon­ists Christo­pher Sam, Miguel Rawl­in and Brigid Haynes. John Ul­je­vic plays the bass and Dale Dol­ly, the key­boards. Hamil­ton has been in the mu­sic in­dus­try for more than ten years and knows what it re­quires. She has worked with bands such as Kar­ma, Guy­a­tones and Trevi­ni and de­cid­ed it was time to have her own band and add a dif­fer­ent per­son­al­i­ty to mu­sic. In­spired by the Chi­nese flag on a trip to Chi­na, Tri­cia said she de­cid­ed on the name Red since she loved the colours of the flag. She said the band plans to gain recog­ni­tion in their home­land and to make a mark in­ter­na­tion­al­ly. "We want to take our mu­sic in­ter­na­tion­al­ly and we want to make Trinidad and To­ba­go proud."
