Music band Red, formed only three months ago, held its launch on August 4, onboard the Southern Elegance. Tricia Hamilton, leader of the band said, "People came expecting what they are accustomed to hearing, what we gave them blew their minds. They were shocked we catered to everyone and had a great mix of music." She said the band was not surprised by the reaction of the crowd because its members knew their potential. "We are dynamic and different not just another local band."
Red consists of a range of musicians, among them vocalist Preston Andries, Joe Sookdeo and Hamilton, drummer Ian Joseph, saxophonists Christopher Sam, Miguel Rawlin and Brigid Haynes. John Uljevic plays the bass and Dale Dolly, the keyboards. Hamilton has been in the music industry for more than ten years and knows what it requires. She has worked with bands such as Karma, Guyatones and Trevini and decided it was time to have her own band and add a different personality to music. Inspired by the Chinese flag on a trip to China, Tricia said she decided on the name Red since she loved the colours of the flag. She said the band plans to gain recognition in their homeland and to make a mark internationally. "We want to take our music internationally and we want to make Trinidad and Tobago proud."
