Xavier Pouchet of Tu­na­puna emerged as the win­ner of the first semi­fi­nal round of Mas­tana Ba­har last week. Pouchet im­pressed the judges with his ren­di­tion of a love song orig­i­nal­ly per­formed by play­back singer Ra­hat Fateh Ali Khan.

Plac­ing sec­ond was The San­jay Boys Tas­sa Group of Princes Town, while Rawle Moti­lal of San Fer­nan­do placed third. The fourth prize was won by Ro­han Ramdeo of Pe­nal and the fifth prize went to Ma­li­ni Son­ny­lal of Bar­rack­pore.

Mean­while, the fol­low­ing con­tes­tants had been se­lect­ed to ap­pear on the sec­ond semi­fi­nal round of this year's com­pe­ti­tion which was sched­uled to be record­ed yes­ter­day: Pooran Ja­groop, Roshan Sam­lal, Randy Jairam, Anand Ad­heen, Lenore Singh, An­tho­ny Bat­son, De­van Ma­hase, The Maya Shak­ti Dance Group and Lor­nette Ram­lal-Jan.
