Pouchet wins Mastana semi

Winner of the first semifinal round Xavier Pouchet receives his prize from sponsor Nora Singh.

 

Xavier Pouchet of Tunapuna emerged as the winner of the first semifinal round of Mastana Bahar last week. Pouchet impressed the judges with his rendition of a love song originally performed by playback singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. 
 
 
Placing second was The Sanjay Boys Tassa Group of Princes Town, while Rawle Motilal of San Fernando placed third. The fourth prize was won by Rohan Ramdeo of Penal and the fifth prize went to Malini Sonnylal of Barrackpore.
 
 
Meanwhile, the following contestants had been selected to appear on the second semifinal round of this year’s competition which was scheduled to be recorded yesterday: Pooran Jagroop, Roshan Samlal, Randy Jairam, Anand Adheen, Lenore Singh, Anthony Batson, Devan Mahase, The Maya Shakti Dance Group and Lornette Ramlal-Jan.
