Soca Superstar Machel Montano will give T&T another glimpse of the highly touted Going for Gold album which is costing Government a reported $5 million. Montano will launch two songs from the album at the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development's free Republic Day Concert. Love Army and an adaptation of Machel's 1985 I Love my Country (Next Generation) will be performed at the concert scheduled to be held from 7 pm to 11 pm on Monday at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s.

Montano’s mother, Elizabeth Montano, said in a telephone interview with the T&T Guardian yesterday that the accompanying videos for the songs will be launched as well. Love Army, she said features ten artistes from different communities, among them Iwer George, Kimba Sorzano, Isaac Blackman, KI (Kris Veeshal Persad), Kerwin Du Bois, Fya Empress (from Tobago), Farmer Nappy and Patrice Roberts.

The adaptation of I Love my Country (Next Generation) features six young monarchs, among them Aaron Duncan, Jeromy Rodriguez, two female artistes, Pranava Maharaj (the youngest Mastana Bahar winner) and Timel Rivas. Montano reiterated that the Government did not approach Machel but rather her son put forward a proposal to the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development, headed by Dr Bhoe Tewarie. Another song soon to be released, she said, is Gold (a remake of calypsonian Maestro's tribute to Hasely Crawford).
