The Caribbean's number one reality TV talent show is back with a new name-Digicel Stars. The popular show which has had six successful seasons in T&T will return with a new format and contestants stand to win up to $500,000 worth of prizes.
The ten-week interactive series promises to be even better this year, as selected contestants from each genre: R&B and pop, Caribbean sound, gospel and for the first time, dance music, will be assigned coaches who will mentor the contestants throughout the course of the series.
This year, the winner of the 2012 Digicel Stars will be decided purely by votes from the audience. Over the years, the show has seen many talented people realise their dreams. It has opened the way for singers who have become household names in T&T like Kay Alleyne, winner of the 2007 series.
The Tobago singer has since graced the stage with legendary singer Lionel Richie at the Queen's Park Oval, Port-of-Spain and R&B songstress Chaka Khan at the Tobago Jazz Experience.
Neval Chatelal, the 2010 winner, has become a professional singer and has performed at several high-profile national events. Last year's winner Camille Comas has been making a name for herself on the local gospel circuit.
Anyone who wants to be the next Digicel Star can enter by calling 2462 or by using the Digicel Stars Blackberry App, or they can come to open auditions on Saturday October 20 at Fiesta Plaza MovieTowne, Port-of-Spain, from 9 am to 2 pm.
