Fans are in for a treat as Keensdee Productions presents the annual Tim Tim show. Entitled De Band Passin’….An Evening with Paul Keens-Douglas, the show will feature Keens-Douglas performing a wide range of material from his extensive repertoire, material that as the name suggests, will reflect our changing Caribbean lifestyle and concerns over the last 50 years.
Last year’s show As Ah Was Sayin’ was well-received by a packed house, but only ran for one evening due to curfew concerns. This year, however, there will be two performances, with a special one for children at a later date. It is an opportunity to see and hear the artist up close and personal and to introduce the younger generation to work that is seldom heard on the air these days.
Known as Tim Tim since 1975 when he put on the first Tim Tim show at the Little Carib Theatre, Keens-Douglas has been producing this show annually to present new material, to preserve old material, to introduce new storytellers, but most of all to keep a focus on storytelling, the narrative style and humor as it used to be.
For those who have been complaining of a lack of truly value-oriented shows that entertain yet deliver a message, this is an opportunity to come out and support one that does exactly that. Also featured on this year’s production are guest artistes popular violinists Janelle and Janine Xavier of Xavier Strings and well-known jazz performer Vaughnette Bigford.
De Band Passin’ takes place at the National Academy for the Performing Arts, on October 27 at 8 pm and October 28 at 6.30 pm. Tickets are $150 and are available from Napa Box Office.
