N9 Dance Company, acclaimed by many as the premier Egyptian Raks Shar Qui (Bellydance) company in Trinidad and Tobago, lit up the Central Bank Auditorium in Port-of-Spain on the weekend, with its 2012 presentation-Celebration.
In this the nation's Jubilee year of Independence, the production is described by company artistic director Nalini Akal as, "a vibrant response to the country's festivities and an opportunity to exhibit even more aspects of the dance company."
The presentations by N9, alongside a host of special guest performers and artistes, featured work choreographed by Akal. The programme also visited some of the elements most common in Bellydance choreographies, as well as various other dance styles including Flamenco, Chinese Fan, Hawaiian and Tahitian performances.
