After a thought provoking run at the University of Oxford, the 50-minute documentary Forward Home: The Power of the Caribbean Diaspora was successfully screened in London at the prestigious Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Mall, London.
Media executive Lisa Wickham is the film's producer and director, while noted economist and WTO Chair at the University of the West Indies served as the film's executive producer.
Several members of the diverse audience commented on the cinematography of the film which was done by Shelon Felix.
Although the production team comprises only sons and daughters of T&T, the film showcases research findings done on Guyanese living in Toronto, Surinamese living in Holland, Dominicanos living in New York and Jamaicans living in London. The film was actually shot in nine countries.
The capacity crowd comprised members of the Diplomatic Corps, BBC and London Film Academy filmmakers, academics from various Universities, Commonwealth Foundation executives, Home Office executives, PoisonUK executives, representatives from Sony and Atlantic records, students, researchers, tourism officials, diasporic media based in London and business people from across the various diaspora.
Wickham and Nurse engaged the audience in a lively discussion, subsequent to the screening of the film. The event in London was managed by Wickham's production company Imagine Media International Ltd.
