Carnival Monday 2013 is 37 days away so if you are not ready you might as well begin making plans for C2K14, scheduled for March 3-4.
The first calypso tent (Divas Calypso Cabaret International) premiered the season last Wednesday at De Nu Pub in Woodbrook; steelbands are already well into practice sessions for this year’s national Panorama competition; mas bands have been launched, a couple since last July; and, the first all-inclusive fete of several—St Francois Girls’ College’s Soca Hula, at T&T Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI), Airways Road, Chaguaramas—takes place tomorrow night.
Trinity College’s Soka in Moka XIV takes place on Sunday evening, on the school compound in Moka, Maraval.
This year’s Savannah Party (National Panorama semifinal) is scheduled for 11 am on January 27 and this year, the National Calypso Monarch final will not be held in Dimanche Gras, at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, on Carnival Sunday night, but on Thursday, February 7, at the same venue.
The King and Queen of Carnival finals, also to be held in the Savannah, takes place the following evening.
The National Carnival Commission (NCC) is yet to reveal its new format for Dimanche Gras but one can guess it will take the form of a champions’ night with all the winners of C2K13 being showcased.
