"Rain don't stop fete, only cricket," DJ Private Ryan shouted as the rain came, threatening to mash up the annual Ridge Poolside All-Inclusive Fete in La Romaine, last Sunday.
Fashionably-dressed women, in miniskirts and dresses, body suits, shorts and revealing tops, tottering in high heels and well done hair styles, needed no further invitation.
With a surge they came out, with their equally snazzily dressed partners, from under the tents where they were seeking shelter, and partied hard, washing away the flattering make up and costly hair styles.
Of course, there were a few who came prepared with their umbrellas, and showed no remorse for wining under the big brollies as soca sensation Neil "Iwer" George encouraged them to Bubble while singing his 2013 groovy soca hit.
Instead of performing the conventional way by utilising the stage, Iwer gave an intimate performance as he revelled in the crowd.
As he continued his Carnival 2013 line-up of hits, he had women rushing to get a chance to dance with him while performing, Send Dem Fuh Meh, with others singing the popular chorus "Any gyul yuh don't want, send dem fuh meh."
It was a mini concert performance as Iwer dug deep into his heavy bag of soca music spanning 27 years and brought back tunes like his controversial Bottom In the Road, and found that special Indian woman to demonstrate the song.
Singing, "If you see the shape of the lady, bottom in the road," it was an amusing spectacle as the woman showed she had enough bottom to deal with him.
In what was deemed as one of the best all-inclusive fetes of the season, that included both the young and not so young, the stage was the designated area for an eye feast of sexy women wining uncontrollably.
As the sweet sound of soca got to their heads, some even jumped into the pool and continued to dance in the water.
Patrons were treated to a fully-stocked bar that never ran dry and a luncheonette serving some of the best bake and shark, ground provisions, chicken, baby back pork ribs.
Even after they enjoyed a full seven hours of feting, they left wanting more as they chipped from the venue to their cars as they continued singing soca music.
