Ravi B, Karma retain Clash of the Titans title

Fresh off of a successful 2013 T&T Carnival season, Caribbean music band Ravi B and Karma won over thousands of patrons at the annual mega-concert Clash of the Titans 3 which was recently held at the Guyana National Stadium.

According to Guyanese media house The Guyana Times, "the band tore the roof off the venue with a show-stealing 45-minute set and was undoubtedly the highlight of a fantastic evening which also included performances by Guyana's Terry Gajraj and Adrian Dutchin as well as T&T's JW and Blaze, Rick Ramoutar and KI with JMC 3Veni."

Reports coming out of Guyana indicate that Karma frontman Ravi B shared his delight at his band remaining Clash of the Titans champion for yet another year.

The 2011 Chutney Soca Monarch said: "We feel so excited and blessed to cop this title once again, but more importantly, we are very thankful for all the love and support we have received from the people of Guyana throughout our careers. We have been on tour there for the past four weeks and we truly appreciate the unique energy and embracing nature of the Guyanese people."

Carnival 2013 was indeed a landmark season for Karma as vocalists Ravi B, Nisha B and Gregory Ayuen received public endorsements from several local and regional entertainers both on and off social media. One such endorsement was an invitation to Ravi by Soca Monarch Machel Montano to do a feature performance in the prestigious Machel Monday concert spectacular.

Ravi rode this success all the way to the final of the International Groovy Soca Monarch in which he placed fourth and also earned the third-place spot for his presentation in the overall competition with the monster hit Prescription.

Always one to be a trendsetter, risk-taker and to try new things for the entertainment of his fans, Ravi, who this year unleashed the now famed Lizard haircut (a hairstyle which was copied by fellow artistes and fete patrons throughout the season), collaborated with his bandmates to be the first group of Caribbean musicians to execute a hilarious video meme of the popular Harlem Shake.

After wrapping up a few local engagements in the next couple of weeks, the band members will be back on the road representing T&T at such events as the GBM showcase in New York and headlining major Easter weekend shows which include the Unforgettable the concert at Mirage Banquet Hall in Toronto, and the Bodow Fete at Club Naked, Miami.

During my consultation with Ms Brafit CEO Nicole Joseph-Chin, what was supposed to be a simple mastectomy bra fitting became something much deeper. Her thoughtful questions unlocked emotions I didn’t even realise I was holding in. She comforted, reassured, and helped me face the truth of what was coming. That bra wasn’t just clothing—it was the first real symbol of life after surgery.
