The Pazzaz show organised by Pan Trinbago as part of the Tobago Jazz Experience was cancelled because of bad weather.The show, which was scheduled to start at 7.30 pm on Saturday at the Pigeon Point Heritage Park, was initially delayed because of heavy rainfall.Only the first act by West Side Symphony was presented when the organisers attempted to carry on the event at approximately 8.30 pm.
The orchestra was able to complete a full set. However, as the heavy rain persisted, organisers said it became too dangerous for the sound engineers and other technical workers to continue.
According to Pan Trinbago vice-president, Bryon Serrette, three mixing boards were lost due to water damage. He also said when two engineers received minor electric shocks it was decided the show would be cancelled. No one was seriously injured. Serrette said Pan Trinbago would most likely reschedule the event. Patrons were advised to get refunds on tickets at the location where the purchase was made.
The line-up for Pazzaz included Codrington Pan Family, birdsong, Sharon Phillips and Flayme, Duvone Stuart, Raf Robertson, Roy Cape All Stars and Blaxx and Austin Super Blue Lyons.On Friday, the World Music Night featuring Melanie Fiona, Freddie McGregor and Bunji Garlin, Fay Ann Lyons and Asylum, was also delayed by more than three hours due to rain.The Tobago Jazz Experience was held from April 20 to yesterday and featured international acts such as Dionne Warwick, India.Arie and Lianne La Havas.
