His brand of comedy and personality keeps listeners locked on from the moment they wake up to the time they get to work on weekday mornings. His voice and style is well-known, but from today, Sunny Bling (Kerron Sealy) will be joining the Slam 100.5FM family as co-host of the weekday morning show.
"I am bringing 'Sunny Bling' to the morning show," he said in a recent interview. He will be lining up alongside Lerbz and DJ Situation to add another dimension to the increasingly popular morning show which airs on weekdays from 6 am to 9 am. "Every week there will be different elements," he said, refusing to give clues as to what fans could expect.
Sunny has eight years of radio experience under his belt. His career began on the Boom Champions as the host of their morning show for the first three years. For the second three years, he hosted the Afternoon Drive and then for the one year, he has been at the helm of both programmes. Over the years, his popularity has grown and reached beyond that station. Sunny can be seen playing the role of MC at several different events, ranging from ministry functions to charity events to concerts.
He has also appeared on Synergy television, comedy festivals and is currently the host of the cooking show, Now You're Cooking.
While T&T may have only seen and heard about Sunny over this period of time, the radio host believes he was born to entertain.
"There are certain things I do now that I have been doing since the age of 12. I am getting paid to be myself. I am being real. I will go to host a ministry function in a suit and tie but I will still bring myself," he said.
His realness has earned him hundreds of fans and followers and even the rare opportunity of making one government minister do the "Gangnam Style" dance.
Sunny however remains humble about his popularity. "It is good to know that people want to hear me in the morning. I don't know if I want to hear me in the morning," he joked.
Despite this, his mission remains the same: to bring entertainment to the most people possible and to be one of the best MC's this country has ever seen.
His definition of entertainment however goes beyond the usual. While he wears the moniker of "entertainer" Sunny insists, "Don't ask me to sing! I provide entertainment of a different kind. Entertainment is so much more, I think it is about spreading the good word of living life and laughter. My job is to keep things entertaining."
Joining the Slam family, he believes, would help take his brand to the next level. "It is more about joining the group, Guardian Media Limited. It is a great opportunity to expand on what I am already doing." The opportunity to be seen and increase his reach appealed to Sunny who is ready to welcome this additional responsibility when it arises.
"I look at it like Ryan Seacrest. He produces and hosts on radio and television. I think of T&T as a little Hollywood," he explained.
Slam's station manager, Joel Morris said the addition of Sunny to his on-air lineup fell in line with the radio stations mission to be progressive.
"He (Sunny) is creative, popular and can add to where we want to go and we at Slam think it is a perfect fit."
