Carib Brewery's second annual Oktoberfest held at Adam Smith Square in Woodbrook last weekend was a success. "It was an overwhelming success," says Colin Murray, sponsorship and events manager at Carib."Our 80-foot long bar was a hit. It (Oktoberfest) exceeded our expectations in the second year. The first year was good. We stepped out to create a real beer festival. We set out to do same this year."We had our entire culture on show in terms of the different types of music. There was something for everybody," he told Sunday Guardian.
Over the weekend, Murray said, the company amplified its campaign to drink responsibly. There was also a sober zone for guests.Representatives from Carib Brewery partners in Barbados and Belize were in attendance to observe and enjoy the festival.Murray says, "While we wanted people to have a good time, while we wanted people to drink our draft beer, we wanted people to drink responsibly! There is no VIP area. What we wanted to achieve is a fun event that is basically open to all. It is good, clean family fun. Whether you are a CEO or an ordinary labourer, you could have come out and enjoy our hospitality."Murray said initially there were concerns about the weather when it rained in the early afternoon on October 25, but the rains subsided around 4 pm, and the event went on throughout the weekend without interruption.
