Fiery parang down south
As we all say: “Trini Christmas is the best,” and this was the sentiment shared by scores of parang lovers who flocked the San Fernando Yacht Club for an afternoon of fun and sweet parang.
Despite daytime showers threatening last Friday’s much-anticipated annual event, the young and not-so-young came out under the beautiful night sky and danced the night away to songs performed by one of San Fernando’s finest parang band, Fuego Caribeno.
The elder folks swayed to the traditional Latin American songs such as Anda Paranderos and Moliendo Cafe while the younger revellers put on a dance exhibition to modern songs such as Marc Anthony’s Vivir Mi Vida.
There were Christmas delicacies such as ham, ginger beer and pastelles but the well-stocked-bar kept patrons enthusiastic throughout the night.
