Ralph Maraj's The Saint, which had a successful season last year, returns to the Naparima Bowl, San Fernando, May 2 to 3 at 8 pm and May 4 at 5.30 pm.
Vishnu (Maraj) totally disillusioned with the pervasive materialism of his environment, gives up being the head of his family's business empire to develop his mind through spirituality and study. He rejects an invitation to enter politics and goes to the India of Benares, not Bollywood. He returns to Trinidad a man with a message and mission and becomes a change-agent for his family and community.
In the process, he throws his girlfriend Seeta into acute distress. How they manage the change in their lives is one of the intriguing aspects of the play.
Tickets are on sale at Nigel R Khan Booksellers in Gulf City, Marabella, High Street, San Fernando; Price Plaza Chaguanas; MS Food City, Debe, or at 657-1086.
