Lovers of local rock music were treated to an explosion of fast-paced guitar music and heavy lyrics when Bees Hi Fi staged its annual Guitar Wars at the La Rumba Bar, Chaguanas recently. Guitarists from various bands showed off their deft fretwork with intricate arrangements and improvisation in rock music.
The guitarist competition was won by Sajeev Bhadursingh, the 2012 winner, in second spot was David Ramberran and in third place was Jinn Hosein.
The show started after 10 pm with an opening performance by the band Abyss.
Kyle Ramoutar, lead singer of Abyss and his deep voiced lyrics and stage performance, had most of the patrons clad in black shaking their heads and dancing to the music. Ramoutar ended his performance by declaring the stage was too small for him.
Another band making an appearance was Blizzard from south Trinidad. Pradeep Soogrimsingh, lead singer of Blizzard, also dished out a powerful array of lyrics when he and his band appeared onstage just before midnight.
Also carded to appear at Guitar Wars night were Lifeforce, Southside Down, Soaking and the Candy Project.
