Madhuri Dixit recently received death threats from someone who claimed to be involved with the underworld. Waiter Praveen Kumar Pradhan, 23, was arrested last Thursday after he sent allegedly sent the threats via messages to the actresses phone, saying that he will kill her and her children.
The police have also found the phone that he used.
The incident happened in November, Indian Express reports. Madhuri's PA stated that she received four text messages of a "threatening" nature from a strange number around 3 am on November 25.
About the messages, an officer who spoke anonymously, said: "Pradhan claimed he was associated with the gang of underworld don Chhota Rajan. The accused said he had trained a 15-year-old boy in handling weapons and bombs and this teenager would barge into Dixit's home to extort money."
Fortunately, the evidence that they gathered lead them to the suspect, Pradhan who confessed soon after.
The last update on the situation at the time of writing saw police making their checks to confirm if he really is involved with organised crime, and investigations will continue.
BollyTalks has also learned that this is not the first time the waiter has tried to extort a celebrity.
