History was recently made at the 5th Bishops Anstey High School (BAHS) 5K Fun Run and Walk, when Lynette 'Granny' Lucess' granddaughter won her age group in the 90th Anniversary celebration of the school.Asharie Hagley ran in 25.02 to win the 15 and Under age group while her mother Paulette Lucess and father, Matthew Hagley both placed second Overall in 20.55 and 15.42 respectively.Celine Lestrade placed first among the ladies on the day in 19.03 a clear minute ahead of Lucess, who was closely followed by Simone Capiatha in 22.41.
In the male category, Richard Jones completed the 3.1ml route in 15.25 which took runners from in front the school on Keate Street towards Frederick street north onto the Queen's Park Savannah, around the Savannah down Charlotte Street around the Memorial Park Square back up Frederick Street going west around the NAPA building finishing on Keate Street.Following Jones was Hagley in the men's Overall category closely followed by Lionel Dandrade in 15.43. Meanwhile, in the U15 girls category, Akilah Prescod was second in 30.44 and Christal Joseph third in 31.59, Christal also won the Diane Henderson Award for the Fastest BAHS Student.In the boys U15, Ashton Gill placed first in a time of 20.10, with Renwin Medina and Raheem McLechie second 20.13 and third 22.18 respectively.
In the 16-19 age group (female), Camille Flemming was first with a time of 32.00, followed by Timiebi Souza-Okpofabri - 33.05 and Sierra Young - 34.59. In the male category, Nicholas Landeau completed with a time of 17.03, Jevon Joseph in 17.14 and Romario Rodriguez in 18.04. In the 20-39 age group (female) Salisha Julien made it in a time of 22.36, Jeunesse Walters in 23.45, Lisa Superville in 25.15. In the male category, David Hay made it in 17.46, Nelinho Mierez in 18.01 and Kervyn Persad in 18.16. In the 40-49 group (female), Michelle Newallo made it in 31.02, Karlene Ammon in 34.55 and Allison Elliott in 35.01. Cantius Thomas placed first in the men 40-49 with a time of 17.52 while Paul Martin made a time of 18.29, and John Donaldson 19.58.
The 50 and over category was keenly contested with Joy Ryan making a time of 25.41, Rosamund Jolly 25.43 and Susannah Joefield 25.48 finishing close. In the male category Oswald Adams made a time of 18.10, Hugh Raphael 19.26 and Errol Jones 21.20. Sierra Young and Allison Elliott won the Mother Daughter prize and Nalini Edwards the sole Owner and Pet prize. The organisers wish to thank everyone for coming out to the 5th Anniversary Fun Run.
