Over 100 children and adults have seen selections of the films from the 2011 Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase (TCFS) and described them as "definitely entertaining" and "informative".Organisations, NGO's, Community Based Organisations and other 'Community Groups' who were seeking options for entertaining and educational activities for their members for the month of August were invited by the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company (TTFC) to host screenings of the local and regional films.
The TCFS is a programme initiated by Muestra Itinerante de Cine del Caribe in Cuba with the support of UNESCO, in which films produced by Caribbean and Latin American film-makers are selected for screening in several Caribbean countries. In 2011, there are 37 films in the Showcase, many of which are suitable for children and adults. One (1) animation – 'Puberty – Javier Secret' deals with the issue of growing up and the uncertainty of the changes to one's body while the docu-drama 'Churandy' focuses on an athlete's commitment and pride for his homeland.
The films originate from countries including Belize, Columbia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Curacao, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Cuba to name a few and the English speaking region is also represented with films from Jamaica, Bahamas, Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago!
