The Trinity Hall of Residence on the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies recently hosted a fashion show. Lights! Camera! Fashion! Caribbean Women Evolved, strung together a delicate delight of talent touching on ideas of Caribbean identity through fashion.A beautiful array of colour graced the JFK auditorium, as ladies of the University stemming from across the region and beyond, sought to enticingly startle the audience with dance, modelling and monologues. The evening sparked with East Indian and African wear, and saw models in tie-dyed garments and formal gowns strutting down the aisles along with Maypole dances, a Nigerian monologue and a gospel performance. Following the bedazzlement of the first half of the show, the ladies of Trinity Hall continued to thrill audiences. Design presentations by Jevon Ford, Deron Attz, Urban Dynasty, Delia Alleyne and Adanna De Leon wrapped up the event neatly, relaying an underlying theme of accomplishment.Tanya Boucher, student, resident and Chairperson for Trinity Hall commented on the fashion show's endeavour to build further inter-relativity and greater bonding, among Caribbean islanders (students of the University as well as residents on campus) along with a chance to display diversity and grasp at opportunities. Boucher also made it pertinent that the fashion show brought certain ideals to the forefront which can be adopted by the wider Caribbean Community, such as "integration and togetherness".
