Grab a friend and get up and go!
It's no secret. Bodies love physical activity. However, it's easier to think about a plan to get more active and much harder to start it and follow through. Contrary to popular belief, being active does not necessarily mean joining an expensive gym or a sports team. Committing yourself to getting off your butt (whenever possible) is a good start. If you have a hard time fitting an exercise regimen into your schedule, making small lifestyle changes can help you get some much needed circulation:
1. WALKING
Don't discount good old walking as a great way to get some blood flowing to the heart. When going short distances (or maybe even longer ones), leave the taxi behind, refuse a ride and don't reach for your car keys.
2. BIKE RIDING
Bikes are faster than walking, cheaper than the bus or driving and bike riding is one of the best forms of physical activity available. Don't forget your helmet.
3. DANCING
Find yourself alone at home? Don't get seduced by the tube; put on your favourite tunes and let loose.
4. STRETCHING
Yes, stretching is a low-intensity workout, but so important since people are spending so much time either crouched over a desk or hunched in front of a computer screen. Plus, it feels great.
5. CHANGE THE WAY
YOU HANG OUT
Instead of sitting around with your friends, suggest other activities like running, skipping or even taking your dog out for a walk.
Just get up and get moving!
