On May 5, The Rotary Club of Maracas /St Joseph will host its annual fund-raiser, Rotarians can Dish It Out 2, at Angostura Food Court, Laventille, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Patrons of this fund-raiser can enjoy delicious meals consisting of three meats, carbs, salads, desserts, drinks, as well as entertainment and door prizes. Proceeds from last year’s event were utilised by the club to service its various projects aimed at “reach within to embrace humanity,” the Rotary International theme for 2011-2012. Rtn Ena Marajah, Chairperson Community Relation Projects noted: “The club was very fortunate to have a successful fund-raiser last year which allowed us to reach within to embrace humanity in many ways. The club’s Meals on Wheels project is one of its longest project spanning over five years. This project involves providing a meal to senior citizens every Sunday. This project is led by Rtns Gary and Selvon.” Marajah continued: “Another project was the Diabetes Awareness Camp which was held last October. Through this project, The Rotary Club of Maracas/St Joseph was able to highlight the causes of diabetes, the effects of diabetes on person as well as their family and how we can prevent diabetes. “The Rotary Club of Maracas/St Joseph was thereafter called upon by the Ministry of Labour & Small and Micorenterprise Development to partner in hosting their Diabetes Programme last November. “It was also good that the club was able to recognise five centurions from the Maracas/St Joseph community. The club also assisted people in aid of wheel chairs, children in need of school items. “Of course, a key focus of the club is our continued efforts for the preservation of the Maracas Waterfall,” ended by Rtn Ena. Rotarians Can Dish It Out 2 Annual Fund Raiser on May 5 will allow the Rotary Club of Maracas/St Joseph to continue with its passion to embrace humanity.
