Under the Veil

There has to be something deeper! There has to be substance below the surface! Behind the ‘curtain of apparent confusion’ there must be something real. To see it requires sound judgment! Too many times we are drawn into only taking notice of the outward things. The headlines capture us and unfortunately we make immediate judgments, not even for a second considering that we could be wrong. We then unknowingly, get caught up behind a veil of misunderstanding and misinterpretation. Even at this early stage, it should be easy to understand that we need to constantly examine our approaches to viewing life. We must look deeper! There is where the ‘true treasure’ in each of us lies! Yes, ‘we never get a second chance to make a first impression’ or have an impression made on or of us, but what impressions are we getting at first appearances? Are we considering what’s behind the veil or what’s behind the mask? I have learnt that behind every cold exterior there’s a soft interior. People who at first appear to be unapproachable can turn out to be lifelong friends! It requires persisting in being genuinely friendly in spite of being turned away. It calls for taking time to see the ‘true’ value in others. We ALL have worth and the potential for greatness! We are each special to God and that should be the most important thing to us! Instead of looking at the ‘veil’ and running to possible incorrect conclusions; let’s always re-examine the veil itself. Let’s move the ‘veil’ and allow what’s behind it to live. If you haven’t seen it, ‘veil’ and ‘live’ have the same letters! That should prove that there’s something real below every surface. 

 

As I get invited to speak at various forums, I meet some of the people who grab the headlines and I certainly understand how tempting it can be to form wrong judgments. However, I purpose in my heart to have loving and understanding thoughts no matter what I see. I do this because I would like others to do the same of me. What about you? I am not naive to the fact that some people I meet may have hidden agendas and not everyone has our best interest at heart, BUT we can choose to love others in spite of. As I’m witnessing daily, everyone yearns to be loved and appreciated. Everyone deserves it! There’s too much back-biting and back-stabbing in society today! What is needed is more open appreciation of each other. It can start with a genuine compliment. This can have a positive ripple effect. Just imagine how the younger ones would begin to look at and interact with each other when they see the adults making every effort to get along. It could be a beautiful picture for them to witness and experience! The solutions to society’s problems can have very simple beginnings. Our little acts of kindness can redound to the benefit of the hearts and minds that need it most. Do you agree? It may even influence the headlines! As a result, many will possibly take a second look at how they view the world. As I’ve written and said many times, “We are either part of the problem or part of the solution.” There’s no middle ground! Put another way, there’s no justifiable ground to meddle as a result of the surface things! No justifiable ground to become judgmental when others make errors. We all will and hopefully we can learn quickly from them and move on. The longest rope has an end and so too the longest inspirational article! As we live, we must always be willing to look ‘behind the veil!’ There is something deeper!
