Do you think it's possible to fall in love with your shoes? Well for Aalia and Anisha Beharry this has happened and they have every intention of making you experience love at first sight. How? - With their newly opened boutique, 'Head Over Heels'. They specialise in luxurious, stylish and comfortable shoes as well as a series of fashion bags and belts. These sisters have faced the challenges of opening a new business and are ready to deliver fashionable accessories to Trinidad and Tobago. They carry a wide range of shoes, from pumps, to wedges to kitten heels and flats. For now, they exclusively carry the brand Qupid, but will expand their product brand in months to come. "We wear what we sell" said Anisha, stating that they themselves endorse the product, before putting it on the shelves. "We guarantee customer service at its best". Describing themselves as creative and fun, they both agree that they make a dynamic duo. Aalia currently attends the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute where she is pursuing Culinary Management. She admits that this is where her creative side is tested on a daily basis, and as such is transposed into the creativity demanded for a booming fashion industry. Anisha, who noted that she has always had a passion for working with figures, attends Students Accountancy Centre Limited where she is pursuing ACCA. The sisters intend to put their skills together to make this business as successful as it can be. Fashion for the Beharry sisters, is much more than just clothes. Its an expression of your personality and who you are. "Shoes in particular bring out that extra kick to the outfit you are wearing" said Aalia, with no pun intended. She also stated that shoes complete the look that you are going for. The boutique has been in existence for two years and according to Anisha it started off with a simple idea, but through hard work and an eye for a niche in the business market, it became a reality. The premise is simple; most women have a weakness for comfortable and fashionable shoes.
"I think the fashion industry is very competitive, but having comfortable stylish shoes in stores, is very limited. We intend to find that matching shoe to go with any outfit for any special occasion - graduations, weddings or even a night out on the club. We at Head Over Heels, promise to make you fall in love with your shoes" said Anisha confidently. Anisha has been in the modelling industry for a few years. She does this on a part-time basis, and is quite familiar with the latest trends. Just recently she did photo-shoots for billboard work with an undisclosed company. Apart from making her name in the fashion industry she has every intention of declaring herself and her sister as young entrepreneurs in Trinidad and Tobago. In an interview with gieMAGAZINE both of them expressed some worry with respect to the world of business; however they did state that they must start somewhere. "The first six months to year is always challenging" said Anisha "but we focus on the positive feedback rather than dwell on the negative remarks that we have received as young business girls and that helps." So how do they balance all aspects of their lives? The girls have been performing balancing acts with their academic and social lives. They do admit it is difficult however one must not rest if one would like to achieve success. Their personal lives have been affected, but for them their business is their top priority. They have every intention of seeing it grow. Everything else could come after. Anisha and Aalia wanted to thank their parents Eissa and Nadia Beharry who have supported them continually through all their endeavours. "They both have worked tirelessly to make our business dreams a reality" the sisters stated proudly. You can check out the boutique at Ellerslie Plaza, right next to Radio Shack.
