Changing the face of a thing changes nothing; but facing the change needed changes everything. There's an amazing change we can make in our lives that has the potential to benefit us and so many others. This change may not necessarily require a physical movement, but rather a psychological one. It requires us to change our hearts' mind. Yes, the heart has a mind of its own, so if need be, make a choice right NOW to change the heart you have for you and it will transcend into you having the right heart for others. Let's get more to the heart of the matter. We need to start to lovingly and thoughtfully care for and about ourselves. It's a heart thing! We need to be acutely aware that we are persons of value! We may not feel like it at times, but that doesn't change the fact that we're all valuable to God. Great value is placed on us by Him! By belittling ourselves and/or walking around with our heads down will only open the door for others to walk all over us. That doesn't mean that we should be walking around on stilts, so proudly, that we mindlessly and uncaringly step on others. It means instead, that we should exude the confidence of knowing that we have every right to be here on this earth and to succeed according to the plan and path that God has mapped out for us. That makes me excited! What about you? Sadly so many go down the road of dejection and rejection and that's something we should all have an objection to. If we're not going down that road ourselves, we are bound to know someone who is and that should matter to us, as we are expected by God to be our brothers' keeper. Based on their deep hurt, some (even those close to us) may reject our efforts to help, but we can still harbour loving thoughts toward them. In other words, we can make the necessary changes in us to ensure that we love others unconditionally. Let us always reflect that love for, and by us, is a decision, not a feeling. It's a heart thing and that may be a hard thing for some to swallow!
As I'm experiencing, being inspired to write about 'heart matters' causes deep introspection. The surface things don't really matter, as a leopard by any colour is still a leopard! Let's face it; the person who at first may seem to not have a heart, indeed has one. We need the wisdom of God to interact with such persons. Fighting fire with fire only brings more heat and eventual destruction to valuable relationships. Many tumultuous situations can be avoided if we remain consciously aware that the 'heart of the matter' is what needs addressing. By now we should understand that this can only happen if we have a heart for what really matters. What really matters is a clear understanding that we ALL matter to God! As a matter of fact, He has put in us a heart and a mind. What we do with them though, is a matter that we must take seriously. We may be reminded of this in the least unlikely ways or it may be screaming out at us through our interactions with others daily. From today, let's purpose in our hearts to listen to what changes are necessary. Hearing it alone will not make much of a difference, but by truly listening to the changes necessary in our hearts, it can positively impact us and subsequently others. Right now, no physical change may be required, but rest assured with the right heart we can affect the whole earth! I'm willing to look for and face the changes necessary in me. What about you? Changing the heart changes everything!
