Are you a student? Well then you must feel stressed right? Wrong! When in school, you don't have to feel like everything is falling apart. There are ways you can cope...health ways! Here are a few tips:
HEALTH TIPS:
Exercise
Physical activity helps to ease stress. Students who are stressed should get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Dancing is one way for teenagers.
I once heard a secondary school teacher saying that sunlight reduces stress. It is important for the body's regulation of chemicals, so I guess you can take advantage of the sunlight by exercising outdoors.
Deep Breathing Exercises
Full, cleansing, deep breathing is a simple, yet powerful relaxation technique. Deep breathing is from the abdomen in order to get as much fresh air as you can in your lungs. Breathe through your nose and exhale through your mouth. The more oxygen you get makes you feel less tense.
Caffeine Energy Drinks
Caffeine energy drinks have become quite popular with teenagers. However, what you may not know is that energy drinks often include ingredients that can enhance the jittery (nervous) effects of caffeine. Think twice before you consume caffeine energy drinks.
STUDY TIPS:
Want to earn better grades? You may get bored easily or may have trouble focusing. You may think it takes too much effort to get better grades. That isn't necessarily the case. There are some very easy techniques that can help you to focus and remember things better and make your studying more efficient.
1. Study in a Chair at a Table
Do all reading, writing and studying at a table, sitting upright in a chair. Having good lighting and fresh air is important. This helps your studying and grades to improve. Many people lay on their beds, sofa and floors to study. If you are lying down, chances are, you'll get sleepy. You must focus when you are studying if you are lounging your mind drifts out of focus. Sitting upright, in a well-lit room, your studying will be the most focused. In this way every hour of studying could be worth two hours of studying on the bed or sofa.
2. Set Goals and Take Breaks
Gather how much work you need to do and how long it will take. When you are studying, be very focused. When you take your breaks, walk around, and get the blood flowing in your body and brain. If you are studying with a friend, hang out, talk, and socialise. Measured study with breaks gets the most done without burning you out.
3. Start a Study Group
Form a study group with your peers. Explain things to each other and have a little quiz. If there is a large amount of material you may want to divide the research and report back to each other but make sure you leave yourself time to study on your own.
4. Ask Questions and Volunteer Answers in Class
Not only does this get more attention from the teacher, but it also helps to keep you from getting bored or falling asleep. This benefits you with extra credit for class participation whether they tell you so or not.
5. Actually go to every Class
Often students overlook this technique. Students might have trouble waking up in the morning. Other students skipping an hour of class will require several hours of catching-up.
I know with good study habits we have less stress and cramming before exams. We tend to get better grades too. Remember it's never too late. Good Luck.
