The National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB) has sponsored the Martial Arts in Schools Programme across the country. The programme is being conducted by Titus Academy of Martial Arts (TAOMA), a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Karate Federation (TTKF). Speaking to gieMAGAZINE, Chief Instructor, Roderick Titus, said "The programme is geared toward ensuring that students receive the much needed exercise, self defense ability, fun, excitement, rivalry, unity, discipline and the way of life which Martial Arts has to offer". TAOMA has its headquarters at 19 Church Trace, Tabaquite and its Chief Instructor is a 7th Degree Black Belt who has been in Martial Arts for over 45 years. He is also one of the Technical Directors of TTKF with responsibility for the free style division. Recently, a student of TAOMA, Odin McMillan, received a gold medal at Tobago's inaugural Karate Tournament held at Signal Hill Secondary School. McMillan is also a student of the Palo Seco Secondary School. The TAOMA would like to thank the NLCB for sponsorship of this programme which holds great importance.
