Are you blinded to what is happening around you? So much is happening and it's happening fast, so fast that we can at times be fooled into taking things at face value, or be caught up with the pace at which things happen...then we don't actually see what is happening right below our noses. Have you ever considered what we miss when we wink or squint? It's like we get caught up with 'the flash' and quickly forget to observe what the resulting pictures reveal. Yes, our eyes could be wide open, but we could be missing so much that is really happening out in the open. Time then steps in and sooner or later, we could be left to reminisce about what truly happened, or is repeatedly happening. If we don't get a handle on what could turn out to be 'sticky situations' in front of us, we could be further creating a society that may wrongfully handle even simple situations. Have you, like me, ever wondered about the impact we could have had on people who wander around wondering "What happened?" We could have knowingly or unknowingly had something to do with it! We all are supposed to be our brothers' keeper, so that many don't have to question themselves and others..."How did this happen?" With all that is happening, we must take time to take stock; at least to check and see what history is trying to teach us. History is obviously trying to communicate something for our edification, but with all the daily advances in communication, we simply miss it. Instead, we get caught up with the latest modes of communication, which ultimately minimises meaningful interaction. Was that well communicated? Let us purposefully use our senses so that we are aware of all the changes that are creeping in. They are not all for our benefit. Whilst some people can be positively affected, we have to look at what indelible lessons we are teaching, or what legacies are being left for those coming behind us.
We must become very observant to ALL that is happening! If you look again at the word observant, you'll notice at the end of it the word ant. Yes, even the smallest things or changes occurring in and around us must be observed and we must be willing to act decisively on what we observe. Have you ever realised the pain and discomfort a pebble in your shoe causes? If not dealt with quickly, the discomfort and pain increases. It can even seem to scream 'May I Have Your Attention!' After a while, you must stop and take it out! How about stopping NOW and assisting in removing what does not add to the pictures we all would want to see in life's album? It certainly calls for a positive collective responsibility and as I have repeatedly been inspired to share in these articles; we are either part of the problem or part of the solution. Every single day history is being created and recorded somewhere; a snapshot is being taken. As it is being captured, we have to be mindful that some persons are being permanently captured because of and by it. Whether we choose to use a digital camera or a camera phone that has all sorts of digital capabilities, let us keep our eyes open and make a greater effort to be mindful of what is really happening all around us. Look around again and again. It's not just about hearing and responding blindly to "Say cheese!" or "Lights!" "Camera!" "Action!" Firstly notice...
When faced with a worsening situation,
Do not cast blame in any direction.
After all, the next action...
Is dependent upon YOUR reaction!
