Local rock band Project Override recently re-launched at ‘The Rise’, Chaguanas, to a very receptive audience. The band’s concert-styled performance featured artistes from backgrounds of RnB, Pop and Alternative music. The band members collectively expressed joy over the successful turnout. Band manager, Jeremy Anil Managalsingh, stated that he was very satisfied. “The place was rammed, to be honest! This is what I like to see,” he admitted. Mangalsingh, from an early age has kept a dedicated interest in the local rock industry. “There is a lot of talent in Trinidad and Tobago and I am very glad that Project Override had the opportunity to display its talent at The Rise.” Lead singer, Joshua Boodram, who has been instrumental in taking Project Override to the forefront, expressed his thoughts on the purpose of his band: “I want Project Override to continue in this genre that is quite underdeveloped in the country. I want the band to continue having gigs, not just by ourselves, but with other artistes who have the same interest in developing in the local rock industry.” Project Override is experimenting with music, mixing many genres as possible. The band has done both original compositions as well as covers, with elements of Rap and even Soca music. “The intention is to be an overriding force of music” stated Boodram expressively.

Damion Phagoo, of the band Sunday9, who opened the show at The Rise, was completely impressed by the organisation of the event. He expressed a great amount of gratitude to Project Override for providing a stage for his skills to be heard. Local pop star, John Tho, also made an appearance during the night with his original selection ‘With You’ along with a cover of ‘Somebody that I used to know’ by Gotye. RnB sensation, Iziah Kanhai, also entertained the crowd at the Rise with a couple of selections from his RnB inspiration Usher. The members of Project Override will have many performances over the July/August vacation to entertain their growing audience. They will be participating in the upcoming Annual Pop Music Awards (AMPA) to be held at Space la Nouba, as well as the first ever Battle of the Bands which will be hosted by Woodford Cafe.
