The 2012 edition of the Coca Cola Intercol competition has reached the finals in all the zones and the action is on. Let us look at the finalists in the zones for this year's competition. The norm for the south zone finals for the past few years seems to involve Presentation College San Fernando and Shiva Boys' Hindu College. This year is no different as the two teams meet again in the Coca Cola Intercol finals.
The Pres Lions defeated St Benedict's College by a 4-2 margin to advance to the final stage. Goals came from Mathias Halls, Captain Keegan Ellis and national Under-20 striker and the Lions' top goal scorer for the season, Shackiel Henry. The two goals for St Benedict's College came in the second half but were no match for the Presentation effort. Yafeu Rougier was the lone goal scorer for St Benedict's scoring both goals, one in the 74th minute and the other in the 81st minute.
In the other south zone match up, Shiva Boys' Hindu College defeated Pleasantville by a 4-0 margin to meet their rivals Pres in the finals. This game saw the return of the school's most prolific and versatile footballer, Quesi Weston, after his stint with the national Under-20 team in Jamaica for the CFU round of qualifying. The Penal Giants came out on top after goals from four separate scorers. Shervon Diaz opened the scoring in the 21st minute. The second goal came seven minutes later from Judah Peters. Nathaniel Garica who has excelled for his school thus far, scored the third goal during the second half. The final goal of the game came from last stopper Dwight Pope.
The two teams are set for an exhilarating match up. St Augustine and Arima North Secondary will meet in the East Zone's final after both team had rather opposing outcomes to their games.
