We could be flirting with danger and not know it. Be forewarned, one rarely becomes captive overnight. With the exception of a kidnapping, people are not snatched all of a sudden. Long before the captive became confined, there was something or someone doing the captivating; something or someone with a hidden agenda, subtly wooing or secretly looking for the next possible victim.
Subtle hints of possible entrapment are always being given, but the distractions, or lusts of the flesh, is oftentimes winning the battle for our hearts and minds. We must stop regularly and ask ourselves, what's trying to grab our interest. There are many things out there trying to capture our attention and the process can start so innocently. A charismatic personality or a magnetic not-easily-explained influence can lure us into a trap. The latest craze may steal our gaze and before we know it, we could be blinded to what is really our new reality. We must constantly guard our hearts because out of it flow the issues of life and yes, life is filled with issues.
There's a lot happening that we cannot just simply shrug off or ignore. Though beautiful at various occasions, the bright lights have the potential to leave us in a daze. They can easily take us off the path designed to bring about our purpose. Too many are travelling on a path not designed for them. They are following or being lured by the possible 'spoils' of life and are trying to find hidden treasure in treasure chests that have long been stolen by the 'pirates of destiny'. These pirates don't necessarily operate in private and are bent on creating and exposing 'the victims of vain pursuits'.
I ask again; what's trying to grab our interests? The attractive at a first glance may have a certain appeal, but I appeal to you and to me, let us not be easily enticed. 'All that glitters is not gold!' There's a camouflaged enemy to our destinies and the battle for our very existence, is one we have to be purposeful in winning.
With our obedience to the call on our lives and with God's help, we can get to the places designed for us. I have many personal testimonies that have thought me that! Trying to go with the flow and leaning on my own understanding has not worked in the past and last left me forever convinced that they will not work. Easy come; easy go...by everybody! Let us not be fooled. Only God knows that heart's intent. What starts out sweet may soon turn sour or end in bitterness, and as we look again at the word 'sour' we can notice that it's possible 'learning's' are for OUR benefit. It's time to set the captive free! Don't you agree?
One way of being free is to do our best not to be captured. We must examine our choices and their possible consequences. We must examine our relationships and ensure that we are not being held captive by others and we are not willfully holding others captive. To knowingly flirt with danger is to knowingly take a calculated risk that will never be properly calculated. Take the warning NOW. We can't change yesterday, but we can change what we do with what we learned yesterday and even today.
Are you going to allow yourself to become the next victim or captive? There's a wooing going on somewhere right now and it's trying to make a snatch. Share this message as it can mean freedom instead of captivation. It will be captivating to the captive!
