There's a time to sow and a time to reap. Every single day we are sowing seeds. These seeds are the thoughts generated in our minds. We feed ourselves with these thoughts and could be sowing for our futures without even knowing it. Let's do some purposeful sowing! Seeds can, like the mustard seed, be used to eventually reap a great harvest, or they can become destructive manifestations in our lives. Let's face it, whatever we feed grows; good or bad. Every minute of our waking day we are consciously or unconsciously sowing seeds of hope or seeds of doubt; seeds leading to great accomplishments or seeds leading to great despair. What have you been sowing lately? Are you harbouring (feeding) negative thoughts about yourself and/or others? What are the predominant thoughts that occupy your mind? If we give the smallest seed (thought) a place, it can find root. At first you may not even be aware that it's there, but over time when the nutrients reach, it starts to shoot up.
You, like me, may have heard before 'Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become character. Watch your character it becomes destiny!' What is significant about those words is the start of it all was a thought! Simply put, we are moment by moment being shaped by OUR main thoughts. It's OUR thoughts that are making us who we are. We may choose to blame others for how we feel or look at ourselves, but we must take responsibility for the prevailing thoughts we allow. Yes, all sorts of thoughts run across our minds every day, but we don't have to run with them. When necessary, let them go back to where they came from! Also, we can spend so much time focusing on how others may perceive us that we don't see who we were really meant to be - people with a God-given purpose that was given to us on purpose for a purpose! Remember always, that somebody's opinion of us does not have to become our reality and nobody can make us uncontrollably annoyed without our permission. We get uncontrollably annoyed when we decide to do so; when we decide to feed the negative thoughts.
Situations will happen from which seeds will spring forth. What we need to very quickly do is to look at and analyse if the seeds are for planting or throwing away. We can do this by making a conscious choice to see what we SEE in the SEEd. Yes, it's how we see or how we internalise the situations that confront us that matters. What is meant for bad can be used by God for good. Helplessness can be turned to hope! Despair, desperation and destruction can be turned to determination to succeed in spite of! Pain can be turned to purposeful living! Within every single thought there exists the ability for us to be 'tough' and at the same time, the thought is asking us what 'ought' to be done about it. I believe I have shared what my God inspired thoughts for this article should be. The seeds are now in your hand to ponder on some more. After pondering, I hope you share them with someone who needs a harvest of hope as there is a time to reap and a time to sow! Let's continually do some purposeful sowing! God bless!
